LWLies presents… Close-ups
We were thrilled to be approached by William Collins to join them in devising a concept for a new type of film book. Our joint aim was to produce the blueprint for a new series which dealt with a variety of film-based subjects in a way which was engaging, original and visually interesting. The first three Close-up titles are fully illustrated look at Vampire movies (author: Charles Bramesco), New York movies (authorL Mark Asch) and the life and work of Wes Anderson (author: Sophie Monks Kaufman), and each one deals with its subject in way that it totally fresh and unique.
Christopher DeLorenzo, the Massachusetts-based illustrated who worked with Little White Lies on their Rogue One: A Star Wars Story cover, accepted the challenge of producing a set of cover illustrations which harked back to the style of vintage monographs from the 60s and 70s, while feeling modern and expressive at the same time. We’re really proud of these books, and they embody the Little White Lies ethos of combining deep and thoughtful discussion of movie with gorgeous visuals and a passion for high end production.
